HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
The first thing to do in your pursuit of the perfect wedding photographer for you is to find all the photographer you can find. Google, ask your friends, check facebook and google some more. There's a jungle out there, but there also is a photographer that will be perfect for you.
There. Now you should have an enormous list of photographers. Start sifting through by looking at their photos. Do you like their style? That is how that photographer shoots and edits his or her photos. Can you imagine yourselves in the photos? Do you like that soft and bright style och do you prefer the darker photos with a dramatic touch?
This should have shortened your list significantly. Next step is to find out as much as you can about the photographers personality. You will have this person on your heels all day, so make sure you search for someone that you can have a fun day with! Check the photographers website, read their "about" and testimonials (if you can't find any on their website, e-mail them and ask if they have any you can read). Try to find out if this could be a photographer for you. If it doesn't feel right, take them of your list.
By now you should have about 10-20 photographers that could fit you. It is time to make contact. Call or e-mail the photographers on the list and ask if they are available on your date, and ask if they could meet up with you to talk some more. This should not cost you anything, it is just an opportunity to find out if you connect with the photographer. It will show in you photos if you have a photographer that makes you feel safe, so the connection between you is extremly important! Prepare a bunch of questions for your photographer to ask at the meeting. After this meeting you will know if this is a photographer for you, and from that make a decission about who to book for your wedding day.
A lot of photographers get booked more than a year in advance, so don't be surprised if some of them get back to you with the information that they're sadly not available on your day. Because of this you need that list of photographer, so that you didn't put all your faith in one.
Now you look at their pricing. I know, you have a budget and all that. Why I think you should wait until now to take out the pricing is because you should choose with your heart, and not with your wallet. These are the photos that will tell your love story, so choose the right person to tell it. Maybe you can stretch your budget a bit, or you can rearrange it. You can ask your friends and family to give you the photographer as a wedding gift. At the end of the day, you will be glad that you choose the perfect photographer for you, because you got the perfect photos from your wedding day.
